The Fawn

Rising out of the deep
While it's cold and you weep
Hands dragging you back
With the strength that you lack
Your fingers in the dirt

The lump in your throat

Down with out a fight
On this lonesome, dark,

Rising your head to see
Only dead trees
And in the distance

But there, in the undergrowth
Lay a small fawn
This sign, you know
That it's soon to be dawn
